Step 1: Structure
Wire and/or cardboard are used to create the basic structure for the pinata. The wire framework is strong enough to hold the weight of the candy/toys but is open enough to allow for the pinata to be easily broken.

Step 2: Paper Mache
Large sheets of newspaper, wetted with wheat paste, are applied in layers for just the right amount of strength. For the more complex pinatas, multiple forms are combined to create several cavities for filling with candy/toys.

Step 3: Decoration
The following day, colored crepe paper is hand snipped to create a fine textural fringe, then it is glued in strips over the form. Our crepe papers are brighter in color and more color fast than most commercial crepe papers.

Step 4: Final Details
Lastly, specialty papers are hand cut and applied, creating facial features and/or other final details, bringing the pinata to life.
